The illusion of learning a language quickly

Most learners lend credence to the prospect  of learning a language quickly through a process that lets them invest less time, deploy less effort, and ascend the ladder of the learning levels seamlessly. Such a vision stays emotional and maybe unreal and it finds its footing in the human instincts of laziness and haste. In fact, it is easily accepted and welcome because it saves one the trouble of working hard and suffering in order to fulfill the ambition of speaking a language fluently.

On the other bank of the learning river, there is a rational approach to acquire the language which leads implicitly to build an effective process where to forge endurance, enhance reflex, and develop linguistic intelligence. By all means it requires time and effort and a set of values such as enthusiasm, resolve, hard work, stamina, and patience. Such an approach settles at the core of the fulfillment of any ambition and focuses on gradual improvement, simplicity, and full concentration.

Unfortunately, some facets of marketing the language learning spread countless false conceptions and unintentionally sell illusions to people. They address the strong desire of speaking a language by neglecting the necessity of struggling and suffering so as to  make the subject of advertising seem more  tempting. They highlight the ordinary wish of  shortening the journey of learning and melting the hurdles that lie ahead. Such an approach seems to be active and popular in fitness, losing weight, cosmetic surgeries, personal development, etc.

A language goes beyond the definition that restricts it within the borders of a means of communication since it involves a set of inseparable fields such as the psychological, the cultural, the cognitive, the historical, the linguistic, the epistemological …

An ambitious learner never surrenders to the feeling of satisfaction and contentment about one’s level because one is well aware of the limitless and bottomless ocean one’s journey  is diving into, but without losing self-confidence.
