I was sitting in a café reading a newspaper when a young man asked me if I wanted to polish my shoes.
I said “thank you! there is no need to do it”
In fact I tried to be tactful and avoid hurting his feeling. To be honest I never let someone shine my shoes as I completely reject the idea. Proud of my humane value, I took some coins and handed them to him as a sign of sympathy towards the suffering of the others.
However, his answer was impressive and stood for pride itself, he simply said:” I can’t take your money without doing my job”.
I remained speechless for seconds then I said: “with pleasure. Please do your job but first I have to take my shoes off”.
He smiled to me and replied “as you like Sir”.
